Former UFC Champ in Hot Water

Former UFC lightweight champion Tony Ferguson found himself in a bit of a pickle over the weekend.  In the early hours of Sunday, Tony Ferguson, known for his impressive fighting skills inside the Octagon, made headlines for all the wrong reasons. The 39-year-old athlete was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence after crashing his truck into not one but two parked cars outside a popular Hollywood nightclub.

According to local media reports, the collision occurred around 1:50 a.m. Tony’s pickup truck ended up on its side, and unfortunately, one man was taken to the hospital in an unknown condition.  It seems Tony wasn’t exactly cooperative with the authorities on the scene. TMZ spilled the beans, stating that Ferguson refused to take a field sobriety test, giving the officers a hard time.

Eyewitnesses revealed to TMZ that Tony Ferguson “reeked of alcohol” and had bloodshot eyes. Sources also shared that he allegedly crashed into a Mercedes belonging to rapper Cash Gotti.

According to the Dailywire,

Ferguson began fighting in the UFC in 2011 and currently holds a 25-8 record. He has lost his last five fights, with his most recent defeat to Nate Diaz by submission last September. Other fighters Ferguson lost to include Justin Gaethje, Michael Chandler, Charles Oliveira, and Beneil Dariush.

As for the legal consequences, online documents state that Tony is facing a misdemeanor DUI charge, with bail set at a whopping $30,000. Reports also suggest that he could face a suspension of his license due to his refusal to cooperate with the field sobriety test.

Tony has also faced personal challenges. In 2019, his wife Christina Servin filed a restraining order against him, citing some concerning behavior. She mentioned intense paranoia, sleep deprivation, and even the destruction of property. However, she later withdrew the order, expressing her belief in Tony’s potential for growth and stating that he is a good husband and father to their son.
