Maybelline, one of the world’s most popular cosmetic brands, is facing a boycott campaign after partnering with transgender activist Dylan Mulvaney. The social media influencer, who is a biological male, posted a video on TikTok in March showcasing his makeup routine using Maybelline products.

The move has caused an uproar among some social media users, who are accusing Maybelline of promoting the degradation of women and abandoning their core consumer base. On Twitter, the hashtag #BoycottMaybelline has been trending, with many calling for a boycott of the brand.
What a joke seriously?! #boycottmaybelline Thank you Maybelline for telling the World you have no respect for women. pic.twitter.com/4fUj397hrH

However, there are some who support Dylan with one Twitter user saying,
Guys seriously 🤣🤣🤣 I understand people drinking beer not being you know… into transgender people which is fine and makes sense honestly with the demographic… but i feel like It’s fitting for a transgender to promote makeup 🤣🤣 idk that’s just me

The controversy follows a similar campaign against beer company Anheuser-Busch, which also partnered with Mulvaney. The company saw a 17 percent drop in sales after the announcement, and country stars such as John Rich, Travis Tritt, and Kid Rock publicly announced they would no longer consume the brand.
Thank You Travis Tritt For Fighting For All Of Us.

Maybelline has yet to respond to the backlash, but the company may face financial consequences if the boycott gains enough momentum. Some consumers are even calling on other brands to take a stance against Mulvaney and his partnerships. It remains to be seen how this situation will play out for Maybelline and other companies that partner with controversial figures.
