Kurt Cobain’s Daughter Says “I Do” to Surprising Partner!

Frances Bean Cobain, the daughter of iconic ’90s rock couple Courtney Love and Kurt Cobain, has officially tied the knot with Riley Hawk, the son of skateboarding legend Tony Hawk and Cindy Dunbar. The wedding ceremony took place on October 7 in Los Angeles, California, following the couple’s issuance of a marriage license in San Diego County the previous month. The officiant of this star-studded event was none other than R.E.M. frontman Michael Stipe, who also happens to be Frances Bean Cobain’s godfather.

A representative for Tony Hawk confirmed the wedding to Entertainment Weekly, though they declined to provide any further details. The union of these two well-known scions of the ’90s marks a significant moment for both families and their legacies.

Frances Bean Cobain, aged 31, has made a name for herself as an artist and model, successfully carving her path in the world of artistry while bearing the weight of her family’s iconic music heritage. In contrast, Riley Hawk, 30, chose to follow in his father’s footsteps and has established himself as a professional skateboarder, like his legendary dad.

Their relationship became public knowledge in January 2022 when Frances shared a series of heartwarming moments on her Instagram account, highlighting the joy they found in each other’s company. The post showcased a loving moment shared with her now-father-in-law, Tony Hawk, and his fourth wife, Catherine Goodman, demonstrating a strong familial connection.

Notably, this isn’t Frances Bean Cobain’s first venture into marriage. She was previously married to musician Isaiah Silva, though their union ultimately ended in separation in 2017. The dissolution of their marriage was anything but smooth, marked by a contentious divorce battle. A particularly poignant issue was the fate of her late father’s cherished Martin D-18E acoustic guitar, which Kurt Cobain had famously played during his 1993 MTV Unplugged performance.

Silva claimed that Frances had gifted him the iconic instrument, which held immense sentimental value as a memento of her father’s musical legacy. However, Frances vehemently denied this claim, leading to a legal battle over the guitar’s ownership. Regrettably for Frances, her request to keep the guitar within the family was denied by a judge, thus concluding a somber chapter in the ongoing Cobain legacy.
