Watch: NFL Mascot Took Things A Little Too Far But These Peewee Football Players Took Care Of Business

Freddie The Falcon, the NFL Mascot for the Atlanta Falcons, went over the top in a tackle against a kid in a youth football game.

If the Falcons ever need a backup safety, they don’t have to stray too far. However, the Atlanta team mascot wasn’t playing against Mike Evans, Randall Cobb, or other grown men, he was playing against children.

During halftime of an NFL game, a youth football team, also called the Falcons, played against a bunch of mascots in football. Among the well-known NFL mascots was Freddie The Falcon, as well as what appeared to be Hugo the Hornet and others.

As you can see in the video, one of the youth players took off down the sideline with a clear path to the end zone. However, Freddie the Falcon, a grown man, decided he was not letting the child get by and laid the kid out just inside the 5-yard line.

Rather than gently pushing the boy out of bounds or even giving him a firm shove, Freddie took the kid out in a huge hit!

Shockingly, Freddie wasn’t done. He got up, walked over to the kid, stared him down, and shoved him again pretty hard.

The boy was naturally not happy about the shove at all. In retaliation, he hit Freddie in the head with the football, shoved him back, and got up in the mascot’s face before eventually walking away.

However, his teammates were not going to let it go there. They swarmed in to back him up, and a scuffle broke out between the players and Freddie. So much so that the referee had to step in and break it up!

Though I’m a bit skeptical that this may have been staged, it looks pretty legit. Although it was pretty harmless in the grand scheme of things, and I’m sure these kids are used to roughhousing, Freddie did not need to shove the kid like that, and the scuffle following was warranted.

Either way— it’s equally as wild as it is funny, and it seems the kid and his teammates can handle their own.
