It looks like Martha Stewart, celebrity chef, homemaking mogul, and lifestyle icon, is feeling the heat for her controversial luxe cruise — literally!
After posting photos on her Instagram from the trip, Stewart faced outrage from fans over her unusual use of a small iceberg to chill her cocktail.
Stewart took her 1.9 million followers on a trip to Greenland from Iceland last weekend, and was sure to share photos from the getaway on her Instagram. But one photo in particular, showed Stewart proudly holding her drink with a stunning backdrop of Greenland’s fjords behind her — with the caption, “We actually captured a small iceberg for our cocktails tonight.”
The post quickly drew criticism and remarks from fans accusing Stewart of being insensitive to the ongoing climate crisis and the iceberg shortage.
“Love you girl but idk if u heard yet there’s an iceberg shortage??” one fan wrote, while another added, “Global warming and melting ice caps but we need glacier ice for cocktails?! Talk about tone deaf.”
After receiving the less-than-ideal feedback, Stewart shared a review of her experience aboard the cruise ship, which revealed the horns had to be used in order to get through the rough sea of Denmark straits.
But, despite being accused of her insensitivity and lack of composure, many of Stewart’s fans came to her defense.
“Incredible to see — those blues are beautiful in the ice! Thank you for sharing. What an adventure and definitely cocktail celebration worthy,” one fan commented, while another poked fun adding, “If you can’t find fresh icebergs for your cocktails store bought is fine.”
It looks like Stewart escaped this rough sea of criticism with the help of her loyal followers. We just hope she chills out and stays away from any more icebergs!
