Academy Award winner Helen Mirren spilled the tea on her steamy scenes with Harrison Ford in the upcoming Yellowstone prequel series. The actress revealed that she was “so excited” to share a bed with Ford, who plays her rancher spouse and had to “pretend to be cool” during the shoot.
Mirren, 77, said she was “so excited” to hop into bed with Ford, 80, said, “I had to be in the bed with him, you know. I’m dressed up to here,” gesturing to her neck. “But I’m lying there and I’m thinking, ‘I’m in bed with Harrison Ford.’ I was so excited, I can’t tell you. I had to pretend to be cool.”
“Don’t tell him,” she said. “Promise me.”
Mirren, who previously starred opposite Ford in Peter Weir’s 1986 drama The Mosquito Coast, had nothing but praise for her costar. She called him “immensely generous and incredibly professional” and said that he had an “interior quality” that made him easy to work with. Mirren couldn’t stop gushing about Ford’s demeanor on set, adding that he wasn’t a “spoiled movie star at all.”
“He’s come to a place where he can be easy with other actors,” she continued. “It’s immensely generous and incredibly professional. Not remotely spoiled movie star at all. I genuinely love him.” She joked saying, “If I wasn’t married…” Mirren has been married to director Taylor Hackford since 1997.
The Yellowstone prequel, titled 1923, introduces a new generation of the Dutton family led by patriarch Jacob (Ford) and matriarch Cara (Mirren). The story takes place in the early 20th century, when the family faces a series of challenges, including the rise of Western expansion and the Great Depression. The first season premiered earlier this year on Paramount+ and was renewed for a second season last month.
