Will Smith Teases Shocking Return For Popular Movie

After years of speculation and false starts, fans of “I Am Legend” finally have reason to celebrate. Will Smith has confirmed that a sequel to the hit post-apocalyptic thriller is officially in the works, with Michael B. Jordan set to star and produce alongside Smith.

Smith made the announcement at the Red Sea International Film Festival in Saudi Arabia, where he revealed that he had a call scheduled with Jordan the next day to discuss the project.

“The script just came in… I’m probably giving away too much information,” Smith said.

He went on to tease that the sequel will follow the mythology of the alternate ending of the first film, where Smith’s character, US Army virologist Robert Neville, survives.

“You have to be a real ‘I Am Legend’ buff, but in the first one, in the theatrical version, my character died,” Smith explained.

“But for the DVD, there was an alternate version of the ending of the movie where my character lived. We are going with the mythology of the DVD version,” he added.

While Smith did not reveal any further details about the plot, he did confirm that Jordan will be involved in the project, both as a star and a producer.

“I can’t tell you anything more, but Michael B. Jordan is in and we’re doing it,” Smith said.

This news is sure to excite fans of the 2007 film, which grossed over $585 million at the box office and has remained a fan-favorite for over a decade.

The announcement also marks the end of years of speculation and false starts for the “I Am Legend” sequel. Warner Bros. had been trying to get the project off the ground for years before officially confirming its development in 2022.

Smith revealed that it was Jordan’s idea for the sequel that ultimately convinced him to return to the franchise.

“The idea came up. I can’t talk about it yet. But it’s a really, really cool concept, and he was a part of creating the idea,” Smith said in an interview last March.

With Smith and Jordan both on board, fans can’t wait to see what the duo will bring to the long-awaited sequel.
