Country music superstar Tim McGraw recently gave fans a glimpse into his personal life, sharing stories about his family, his love for playing trivia games, and the song that adds a little spice to his long-lasting marriage with fellow country icon Faith Hill.
During a recent interview, McGraw recalled a fun family night spent playing trivia with their youngest daughter, Audrey, and her friends. Although he jokingly suggested that Faith won the game, he hinted that he might have been the real winner, all in good fun.
McGraw also opened up about how his marriage to Faith Hill has been a vital anchor in his life. He candidly admitted that without her, he might have succumbed to the challenges of addiction and struggled to maintain his career. McGraw shared his gratitude for his wife, acknowledging her as his “saving grace.”
“I guarantee you, had I not gotten married to Faith at 29 years old, A, I probably would’ve ran my career into the ground, and, B, I would’ve died already with my career into the ground, one or the other, and it wouldn’t have ever been where it’s at now,” McGraw told Apple Music host Zane Lowe via People.
When it comes to keeping the passion alive in their relationship, McGraw revealed their special song – Santana’s “Samba Pa Ti.” McGraw Told Yahoo! Entertainment, “Well, there’s one song, and it’s really an instrumental, but there’s one. I’m probably going to get in trouble for saying this. God, please forgive me, baby. It’s ‘Samba Pa Ti’ by Santana. It’s kind of our song.”
He explained that his uncle Hank, an old hippie from Napa Valley, introduced him to the song and advised him, “Never make love to a woman with this song on unless you intend to marry her.” McGraw followed this advice, and it became a cherished part of their relationship.
Additionally, McGraw spoke about the pact he and Faith made early in their relationship. They committed to working through problems and not giving up on their marriage when faced with challenges. This promise has undoubtedly contributed to their enduring 27-year marriage, which began in 1996.
“We just made a commitment early on, when we first decided we were getting married and having kids, that we wouldn’t just walk out the door when problems arose,” he explained to Entertainment Tonight Canada.
Tim McGraw’s revelations provide fans with a heartfelt look into his life beyond the stage and recording studio. His appreciation for family time, love for music, and dedication to his marriage offer a refreshing glimpse into the world of this country music legend.
