Rare Skin Disease Strikes Mandy Moore’s 2 Year Old Son

Actress and singer Mandy Moore revealed on her Instagram Story that her 2-year-old son, August, has been diagnosed with Gianotti-Crosti syndrome, a childhood skin condition characterized by itchy, blistering rashes. The star of “This Is Us” shared that her son woke up one morning with a concerning rash, prompting her and her husband, Taylor Goldsmith, to seek medical attention immediately.

Over the weekend, the worried parents took Gus to multiple doctors, including urgent care, a pediatrician, a dermatologist, and a pediatric dermatologist, in an effort to understand the cause of the sudden symptoms. Initially thinking it was eczema or allergies, they were finally given a diagnosis of Gianotti-Crosti syndrome, a viral childhood rash that spontaneously appears. The rash covered Gus’s legs, feet, and the backs of his arms.

Despite his discomfort, Mandy Moore expressed how resilient and brave her little boy was, managing to smile and laugh throughout the ordeal. The actress shared that the treatment options for the condition were limited to steroid creams and Benadryl, but it could still take 6 to 8 weeks for the rash to subside.

Acknowledging the challenges of parenting, Moore humbly shared that the experience can be weird and hard at times. Nevertheless, she expressed gratitude that Gus’s condition was manageable and that he was still able to find joy amidst the discomfort.

Mandy Moore is no stranger to sharing her motherhood journey with the public, having previously posted intimate and realistic photos from the birth of her 9-month-old son, Oscar “Ozzie” Bennett. She is known for her candid and heartwarming approach to sharing her experiences as a mother of two.
