Owen Wilson Will Have You in Stitches In This Must-See New Trailer!

Owen Wilson is starring in the new comedy, Paint, a movie that is sure to have audiences in stitches. The movie follows the fictional character of Carl Nargle, the No. 1 public television painter in Vermont, who is portrayed by Wilson. We can assume Wison channeled Bob Ross for his role, but the movie is not a biopic on Ross.

Carl has it all: a signature perm, a custom van, and fans hanging on his every stroke. That all changes when a younger, better artist, Ambrosia (Ciara Renee), steals everything – and everyone – he loves by starting her own painting broadcast.

The trailer for Paint was released exclusively by IFC Films and it features Wilson as Carl Nargle. The movie is written and directed by Brit McAdams and also stars Michaela Watkins, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Lusia Strus, Stephen Root, and Lucy Freyer.

McAdams was thrilled to be working with Wilson on the film, saying that the actor was perfect for the role. “Obviously, I looked at him a lot during that process,” said McAdams. “But when he actually stepped in front of the camera as Carl Nargle the cinematographer (my old friend/genius Patrick Cady) and we turned to each other and whispered, ‘Holy cow,’ the (12!) years of prep and rewriting the script and having the movie come together and fall apart were immediately beyond worth it. With Owen as Carl Nargle, everything just came alive. That’s what Owen brings to the part and the world of Paint.”

The movie is sure to be a hit with viewers, as it has a lot of heart and plenty of laughs. McAdams stated that Wilson was very funny in the movie, but also brought out a lot of emotion. “You also feel so much for him as he loses everything he values while fighting to discover what he actually needs to be happy,” said McAdams.

“We’re thrilled to finally work with the boundless and versatile talent of Owen Wilson, as he effortlessly brings Carl Nargle’s character to life from a savvy script and direction by Brit McAdams,” Arianna Bocco, president of IFC Films, said in a statement according to Deadline.

Paint has all the makings of a quotable comedic masterpiece, and we hope audiences of all ages are ready for a lot of laughs and a lot of heart,” Bocco said.

Paint will be released in theaters on April 7th.
