One Of Reality TV’s Wholesome Couples Is Headed To Prison

The show has been running for almost ten seasons but now Todd and Julie Chrisley may be headed to federal prison.

In 2019, the couple was indicted by a federal grand jury in Atlanta that included federal tax evasion charges. Peter Tarantino, their accountant was also charged with conspiracy to defraud the United States and aiding the filing of a false tax return.

“I’m telling you all this now because we have nothing to hide and have done nothing to be ashamed of,” Todd said when he was indicted. “Not only do we know we’ve done nothing wrong, but we’ve got a ton of hard evidence and a bunch of corroborating witnesses that proves it.”

Todd and Julie plead not guilty, they were let out on bond but weren’t allowed to travel outside of Nashville or Atlanta.

The charges originated from the action of Todd Chrisley well before the show ever started.

From the Hollywood Reporter:

The indictment accuses the Chrisleys of submitting fake bank and financial statements to financial institutions to get loans. They are also accused of sending fabricated financial documents to a California property owner to rent a home there. And they used a company they’d created called 7C’s Productions to hide their television show earnings from the IRS and failed to file and pay taxes on time, the indictment says.

On June 7, 2022, the couple was found guilty and now face up to 30 years in prison.

“I know all of you guys are wanting to know every detail that is going on in our lives, and I have to ask that you respect that we’re not allowed to talk about it at the present time. There will come a time to where all of it is discussed,” Todd Chrisley said in the latest episode of their podcast Chrisley Confessions.

He later continued, “We did want to come on today and let everyone know that it’s a very sad, heartbreaking time for our family right now. But we still hold steadfast in our faith and we trust that God will do what he does best because God’s a miracle worker.”
