Missing Actor: Search Efforts One Month Later

One month after the disappearance of renowned British actor Julian Sands, search and rescue crews continue to investigate the area of the Baldy Bowl Trail in California where he was last seen hiking.

The actor, who was last seen on the morning of 10 January on the popular hiking trail located in the San Gabriel Mountains, is best known for his breakout role in the 1985 drama A Room With A View.

On Saturday, February 11th, a spokesperson for the county sheriff’s department provided an update on their search for the missing actor. The spokesperson said that the search and rescue crew “remain hopeful, but know the outcome may not be what we would like”.

They also said that the weather in the area is still a “danger” and that their “aviation division still patrols the area when they are available”. The spokesperson also said that they plan to search the area by ground in the future.

Sands’s family were said to be “grateful” for the support they had received since his disappearance but had no further statement for the public at this time.

The last ping from Sands’ cell phone occurred two days after his disappearance, suggesting that his phone died shortly after. A car believed to belong to Sands was discovered one week after his disappearance by search and rescue teams.

Sands, who was born in Yorkshire in 1955, has earned more than 150 screen credits throughout his career, which began in 1979. His other notable credits include The Killing Fields, Arachnophobia, and the TV series 24.

Many have reached out on social media praying for the actor’s safe return. One fellow actress- Kathleen Gati said,

The actor’s family, friends, and fans are continuing to hold out hope that he will be found safe and sound. In the meantime, search and rescue teams will continue to investigate the area and monitor the conditions to determine the best course of action moving forward.
