Long-Time “Dancing With the Stars” Judge Has Died

It’s a sad day for fans of the hit dance competition shows “Dancing With the Stars” and “Strictly Come Dancing.” Len Goodman, the long-time head judge on both shows, has passed away at the age of 78. The British ballroom dancer and judge had been battling bone cancer before his death on April 22 at a hospice in Kent, surrounded by his family.

Goodman was a mainstay on “Strictly Come Dancing” since its launch in 2004, and remained as a head judge until 2016. He was also a judge on the U.S. adaptation, “Dancing With the Stars,” from its launch in 2005 through to 2022. With his sharp wit and charming personality, Goodman quickly became a fan favorite and was known for his catchphrases, such as “It’s a ten from Len!”

Goodman’s agent, Jackie Gill, released a statement confirming his death and offering condolences to his family and loved ones. “It is with great sadness to announce that Len Goodman has passed away peacefully, aged 78,” Gill said. “A much-loved husband, father, and grandfather who will be sorely missed by family, friends, and all who knew him.”

In addition to his judging duties, Goodman also hosted various programs throughout his career, including “Partners in Rhyme,” “Holiday of My Lifetime with Len Goodman,” and “Dancing Cheek to Cheek: An Intimate History of Dance.” He was a true icon in the world of ballroom dancing and his legacy will live on through the many lives he touched.

Fans and colleagues alike have taken to social media to share their memories and pay tribute to the beloved judge. His fellow “Dancing With the Stars” judge Bruno Tonioli tweeted, “My dear friend Len Goodman has passed away. I’m heartbroken. He was a true gentleman and a great friend. We shared so many laughs and good times. You will be greatly missed, Len. Rest in peace, my friend.”

Goodman’s passing is a great loss to the world of dance and entertainment. He will be remembered as a kind-hearted and talented judge who brought joy to millions of viewers around the world. Our thoughts go out to his family and loved ones during this difficult time. Rest in peace, Len Goodman.
