Kayleigh McEnany Opens Up About Three Calls That Changed Her Life

Kayleigh McEnany is a co-host of the Fox News Channel program “Outnumbered” which airs weekdays at 12 PM/ET. Before joining Fox News, McEnany served as White House Press Secretary under former President Donald Trump. In her latest book, McEnany describes three defining phone calls she has received in her life.

The first phone call was from President Donald J. Trump in the midst of the COVID-19 outbreak. McEnany said that this phone call changed the course of her career, saying, “There was the call I received at the start of the COVID-19 outbreak. I was riding in the car with my mom and my daughter, just a few months old, when I received a call from the president of the United States, Donald J. Trump, asking me to be the White House press secretary. It was a call that defined my career. ”

The second defining phone call for McEnany was one she received on Christmas Eve during her senior year of college. The call was from her doctor informing her that she had tested positive for the BRCA2 genetic mutation, which put her at a high risk of developing breast and ovarian cancer. After a decade of aggressive surveillance, McEnany made the difficult decision to have a preventative double mastectomy, reducing her risk of breast cancer to nearly zero.

However, she said the third phone call was, “more important and consequential in my life than a call from the president of the United States or a call with life-changing medical news from my health care provider.”

The third defining phone call that McEnany describes came while she was living in New York and feeling extremely lonely. She prayed to God and in that moment said, “If you’re out there, I need to hear from you right now.” She said in that instant, her phone lit up with a call from an unfamiliar number with a New York area code. The caller was from The Journey church, and they asked how they could pray for her.

McEnany said, “Completely stunned, I sat in silence for a moment before replying to The Journey churchgoer who had decided to call me in that moment. After speaking with them briefly, I hung up the phone and began to cry tears of joy. I knew, without a doubt, I had just had a divine moment of outreach from the risen Savior.”
