Jennifer Lopez Ripped Over How She Treated Reporter

At Monday’s Met Gala, global superstar Jennifer Lopez was one of the co-chairs of the annual fashion event. However, the 54-year-old is being accused of being rude and dismissive towards a reporter during the event.

USA Today Senior News Editor Anika Reed shared a TikTok video of Lopez giving a very curt response to her question, “Who are you wearing tonight?” This sparked social media backlash, with many users calling out the singer for her “attitude.”

In the video, Lopez can be seen walking up the famous Met Gala steps while being shouted at by more than 20 journalists on both sides of the carpet.

When Reed asks her about her dress, Lopez responds with just three words, “Schiaparelli.”

This short interaction caused many social media users to criticize the singer for speaking to the reporter “like a peasant.”

However, other users saw the humorous side of the situation, joking that Lopez’s “kindness radiates through the screen” and that she is “always a ray of sunshine.” Some even referenced her hit song “Jenny from the Block” to explain her behavior.

Reed, the reporter, also made light of the situation in her caption, joking that Lopez only “briefly told” her about her custom Schiaparelli Haute Couture gown, designed by Daniel Roseberry.

The gown, which took over 800 hours of hand embroidery, consisted of over 2.5 million silver-foil bugle beads.

Despite the criticism, it is possible that Lopez’s short response was due to her focus on trying to climb the stairs in her restrictive gown.

The singer’s elaborate outfit also included a silver necklace, diamond bracelet, and massive ring, all from Tiffany & Co., as well as a Tyler Ellis gold clutch. She completed the look with a chic topknot and a monochromatic brown makeup look. Lopez‘s husband Alex Rodriguez did not attend as he is currently filming a sequel to his 2016 action thriller, The Accountant.
