James Corden Is Not Only Leaving The Late Late Show , But The US For This Unexpected Reason

It’s no secret that James Corden has been a beloved late-night talk show host and comedian for more than a decade. And now, it appears that the 44-year-old is saying goodbye to the show to move back to the U.K. with his family.

On Tuesday, Corden was spotted courtside at Crypto.com Arena with his two oldest children, 11-year-old son Max and eight-year-old daughter Carey, to watch the Los Angeles Lakers take on the Los Angeles Clippers.

The outing came just days after Corden admitted that a conversation with his son Max was what prompted him to leave The Late Late Show on CBS and head back to England with his wife Julia Carey to raise their family, which includes their youngest, five-year-old daughter Charlotte.

According to Corden, he was filming on a Sunday when he came downstairs and found his son on the stairs. When Max asked if he was working, Corden said that he had to in order to get everything done for the show. Max’s face dropped and it was then that Corden realized he couldn’t waste any more time away from his family.

“I was filming on a Sunday and I came downstairs, it was about six a.m., and my son, who was ten at the time, was sat on the stairs and he said, ‘Are you working today?’ and I said, ‘I am,'” Corden explained.

“He said, ‘I thought, well it’s Sunday,’ and I said, ‘I know buddy but this schedule’s just all over the place. We just got to get it done because we only have a tiny amount of time before we have to go back and do the show,’ and his face just kind of dropped,” Corden said.

It was then that he realized He needed to make some changes. Corden called his wife and said, “I’ve realized, best case scenario we have six more summers where Max is like, even remotely wants to be around us and I cannot waste another one.” That’s when Corden decided to leave the show and move back to the U.K. with his family.

“So, really the choice was to go, ‘Well if I really want to do this other work, that cannot be at the expensive of our children, our family,’ and that is really all it comes down to,” Corden added.

Corden’s final episode of The Late Late Show has yet to be announced.
