It’s The Little Things In Life: 96 Year Old Woman Gets A Very Special Surprise While At Lunch

96 years young- Patricia Hoefling, had an unexpected surprise at lunch. The heartwarming moment was captured when, granddaughter Shelby Hoefling, 31- decided she wanted to surprise her grandma and pretended to be a waiter at her favorite dining spot!

This was made more special by the fact that Shelby flew over 900 miles to get there!  Shelby lives in Boiling Springs, Pennsylvania, and flew to Fort Pierce, Florida where her Grandma lives over the winter.

Shelby said, “She means so much to me so I wanted to go the extra mile and make her feel loved and important, so I planned this surprise!”

Shelby organized the surprise with her family and the staff of the restaurant.  Shelby then snuck up to take the unsuspecting Patricia’s order.

Patricia and Shelby had just shared a video call the day before.  Shelby sadly explained she wouldn’t be able to see her grandmother for a couple of months.

Patricia, a retired school teacher, was completely shocked when Shelby, her grandaughter, came to the table to take her order.

Talker reported,

Once the shock had worn off, Patricia grabbed her and gave her a big hug before saying how happy she was to see her best friend.

Patricia spends half of the year in Boiling Springs, Pennsylvania, and the other in Fort Pierce, Florida, and hadn’t see her granddaughter for six months.

Shelby considers her grandmother her best friend and said,  “I always miss her so much when she goes to Florida. She usually leaves after Thanksgiving so I know I can’t see her all winter.

Shelby continued, “She means so much to me so I wanted to go the extra mile and make her feel loved and important, so I planned this surprise!”

Shelby wanted to make the visit special and was nervous she wouldn’t be able to pull it off.  “She’s so special that a regular visit wouldn’t do it and I wanted to make it really exciting,” she said.

Though Shelby wanted to surprise her grandmother, she became nervous about the surprise being too much for Patricia saying,  “I was SO nervous that I might shock her so much that she’d have a heart attack – she was 96! As soon as I saw her confused face I had to make sure she was ok.

Patricia has since celebrated a birthday and is now 97 years young!
