‘Extraordinary’ Audition On AGT Had Sofia Vergara ‘Bawling Her Eyes Out’

America’s Got Talent is back with another round of auditions, and one caused judge Sofia Vergara to bawl like a baby.

Before the tears started flowing like the Nile River, AGT hopeful Wyn Starks wowed judges after explaining how he lost his job during the pandemic. The former hotel worker said that losing his job gave him the courage to pursue his dream.

Starks sang his original song, “Who I Am,” which was in honor of his twin brother, who loved the song but recently passed away.

“It’s been really hard,” he said. “He was one of my biggest supporters. To be here means everything to me, and I’m doing this for him.”

The performance reduced Vergara to a puddle of tears, and she shared that she understands the pain of losing a sibling.

“That was amazing. I am so sorry for your loss,” she said. “I cannot even imagine what it is to lose a twin.”

Judge Simon Cowell added that Stark’s story is remarkable, and is one of the “most incredible people on this show.”

“You’re brilliant, Wyn, and we all saw for obvious reasons how emotional you were,” he said. “That song, it was extraordinary… I think it was the perfect tribute to your brother.”

Starks got a “yes” from all three judges.

Vergara may have starred in a comedy before landing on AGT, but she’s had a lot of difficulty in her life.

Not only has the 48-year-old actress battled cancer her older brother was murdered.

In 1998 her brother Rafael, 28, was murdered on the street of Bogota, Columbia, in a kidnapping gone wrong. Vergara is originally from Columbia and moved to the United States in 1993. The members of her family that remained in Columbia were very well-known, which made them an easy target for criminals.

Usually, Rafael would travel with bodyguards however he was alone the day he was murdered.

“We come from a successful family, and he knew he was a target for kidnapping,” Vergara revealed in a previous interview. “He always had bodyguards. Then one day he went out alone and was shot dead [in a kidnapping attempt]. I was devastated.”
