For the first time, fans from around the world can experience an overnight stay at the home of the Hobbit’s from the orginal Movie Set.
Russell Alexander, originally a sheep and beef farmer in New Zealand was transformed into a multi-millionaire when he signed a contract with Peter Jackson’s team to create Hobbiton for the filming of The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit movies.
In 2002, Alexander started giving guided tours of the set, and soon, the tours became very popular. Visitors from all over the world come to see the original set of the famous movies. Alexander has expanded his attraction and it even includes The Green Dragon Inn where visitors can enjoy traditional pub fare.
Alexander is now inviting guests to his family’s property to live like Frodo Baggins and retreat to The Shire™ for an overnight stay at Hobbiton.
Set among the beautiful pastures of New Zealand’s Waikato region on a 2,500-acre working farm, you will feel that you have been transported to a time and place that until now only existed in the movies.
This is a limited-time offer where Alexander will host three separate two-night stays for up to four guests at NZD $10 per night which is only about $6 USD as a homage to the 10th anniversary of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, courtesy of Airbnb.
Guests will have the availability to see 44 Hobbit Homes, The Millhouse, The Green Dragon Inn, and other treasured locations from the work of J.R.R. Tolkien.
As listed on Airbnb news, guests will feel like they are part of The Shire as they enjoy “an evening banquet in The Green Dragon Inn with a feast featuring beef and ale stew, whole roast chickens, freshly baked breads and plenty of ale, plus Second Breakfast™ and Elevenses™ served daily.”
Guests will also be provided with a “cozy overnight accommodation curated by the trilogies’ Creative Director Brian Massey, including a writing nook fit for Bilbo Baggins at The Millhouse,” and “a behind-the-scenes private tour of Hobbiton Movie Set” among other treats.
