Costner Spars With King On NBC

Ladies and gentlemen, gather around because we’ve got some spicy Hollywood drama to dive into today. Kevin Costner, the beloved star of the hit series “Yellowstone,” recently sat down with Gayle King on CBS Mornings, and let’s just say things got a bit tense.

Costner, at 69, has officially announced his departure from “Yellowstone,” a show that has captured the hearts of many with its gripping storyline and stellar performances.

The actor has been at the center of swirling rumors about behind-the-scenes drama, involving disputes over pay, scheduling conflicts, and alleged clashes with the show’s creator, Taylor Sheridan. However, when Gayle King tried to get to the bottom of these rumors, Costner was having none of it.

During the interview, Kevin emphasized his love for the show, stating, “I loved the show before anybody. It was Taylor and myself. The truth never changes. That love was really strong.” He even expressed a willingness to return, saying, “The idea of going back, I would do that in a second if I felt that it was – it was something that I could do, wanted to do. I would make it fit.”

But when Gayle pressed further about the reported disputes, asking why he couldn’t work things out with the show’s team if it wasn’t that hard, Kevin was quick to shut her down. “It’s not therapy, Gayle,” he said firmly. “We’re not going to discuss this on the show really, honestly.”

Despite Gayle’s persistence, Costner remained tight-lipped, only saying, “I’ve conducted my life in a pretty straightforward way. I’ve never missed any obligations in my entire career, so the idea is wide open for me. It just happens to be like can I fall in love with the writing, can I fall in love with the part that wants to go forward?”

So, what’s really going on behind the scenes? Well, earlier this month, Kevin confirmed via a social media post that he would not be returning to “Yellowstone.” He explained, “Hi everyone. I just want to reach out and let you know that after this long year and a half of working on Horizon and doing all the things that’s required, and thinking about Yellowstone — that beloved series that I love, that I know you love — I just realized that I’m not going to be able to continue season 5B or into the future.”

This announcement came amid reports that Costner had clashed with the show’s producers over his desire to shoot fewer days to accommodate his work on another project, “Horizon.” Kevin expressed his disappointment, telling People, “I read all the stories. I was disappointed that nobody on their side… ever stepped up to defend what it was I actually did for them. There came a moment where I thought, ‘Wow, when is somebody going to say something about what I have done versus what I haven’t done?'”

Despite the drama, Kevin spoke fondly of his time on the show, saying he enjoyed playing John Dutton III and was patient for over a year, waiting for the show’s storyline and shooting schedule to come together. However, he noted, “The scripts weren’t there.”

So, there you have it, folks. While the exact details of Kevin Costner’s departure from “Yellowstone” remain a bit murky, one thing is clear: the love for the show and its characters is strong on all sides. Let’s see what the future holds for both Kevin and “Yellowstone.” Stay tuned!
