Moment That Gave Cody Johnson A Rude Awakening In Life Brings Down The House During CMA’s After Life Gave Him

The CMA Awards are one of country music’s biggest nights, and this year was no different. With hosts, Luke Bryan and Peyton Manning, an impressive list of performers, and tributes to some iconic singers, this year’s show was another hit for country music fans.

Cody Johnson won single of the year and music video of the year for his hit song “Till You Can’t”.  If you haven’t heard the song, Johnson encourages listeners to make the most of every moment with loved ones while they are still around.

Johnson told Billboard, “You hear lyrics like fixing up the car with your grandpa, and everyone who hears it thinks, ‘Well, grandpa may die.’ Well, our time is limited, too. I think about all the division that we’ve had politically and with race and different things in our country… If you spend your time spreading hate, your time is going to be up, and that’s all you did with your time here.”

The song became very personal for Johnson during the summer of 2021 when a private jet that he was on with his wife almost went down.
Thankfully they made it safely down, but Johnson said, “After that, I thought, why did I tell my daughters I didn’t have time to get down on the floor and play with them? Why didn’t I tell this person I loved them, why didn’t I tell that person, hey sorry for doing that, or why didn’t I apply myself more here? Our days are numbered and I think it’s something people need to hear. Do it now.”
