Dog Owners Under Investigation After Horrific Attack On Postal Worker

Pamela Jane Rock, 61, a postal worker, was attacked by a pack of dogs after her truck broke down in Florida on one of her routes this past Sunday afternoon.

Putnam County Sheriff’s deputies found Rock on the ground when they arrived on the scene.  The sheriff’s office stated that the mauling took place at Interlachen Lake Estates on Sunday afternoon.  There were also multiple dogs seen inside a fence at a nearby home.

Fox News reported:

A nearby resident told deputies they heard the woman screaming for help and saw five dogs attacking her. Several neighbors tried pulling the dogs off the woman and one shot a gun into the air to scare the dogs away, the report said.

Deputies started first aid on the woman, who was severely bleeding. They applied tourniquets until a rescue unit arrived and transported Rock to the closest hospital.

Due to her condition, Rock was flown to a trauma center in Gainesville, Fl where she was in critical condition.

The sheriff’s office confirmed that Rock had died from her injuries on Tuesday.

Sheriff H.D. DeLoach said, “Our hearts are with the victim and her family as they navigate through this tragic event. It is imperative that dog owners take responsibility in keeping their animals in a secured location for their safety and those around.”

Thankfully, the Putnam County Animal Control Unit has taken custody of the dogs.

Authorities have stated that the investigation into the attack is ongoing, and the owners of the dogs have been cooperative thus far.

Shockingly this isn’t the first story of its kind. A day before this horrifying attack, another woman in Holmes County, Florida, was attacked and killed by a pack of dogs.

The 69-year-old woman was reportedly bitten over 100 times.

No other information has been released as of yet.
