Actress Natalie Portman recently co-starred in the movie Thor: Love and Thunder with actor Chris Hemsworth.
Hemsworth has a reputation of being a sweet guy and Portman told a story proving he really is.
Natalie told a story about what Hemsworth did to make her comfortable during the day they had to film a kissing scene.
“He’s really nice, before sharing the sweet gesture he made before they filmed a kissing scene,” Portman said.
“The day we had a kiss scene he didn’t eat meat that morning, because I’m vegan. And he eats meat like every half hour. Like, that was so thoughtful. That’s not something I’m angry about or care about, but he was just being thoughtful. He’s just a very nice person,” she added.
Natalie added that it wasn’t easy for Hemsworth to abstain from meat because he uses it to keep his physic to bulk up for superhero movies.
Portman became a vegan in 2011 after decades of engaging in vegetarianism. Unlike vegetarians – people who don’t eat meat – a vegan completely abstains from animal products like dairy, eggs, and honey.
Which was a problem for Hemsworth co-star because she was asked to bulk up for the because she transformed into a superhero as well.
Instead of eating meat Portman said that she trained for ten months and drank vegan protein shakes to gain weight for her role.
The character she plays is meant to be six feet tall, almost 10 inches taller than her 5’3 frame.
“I definitely got as big as I’ve ever been,’ she added. ‘You realize, “Oh, this must be so different, to walk through the world like this.”
She added with a laugh, “As a five-foot-three woman, I don’t know that I’m ever going to be cast again as a 6-foot character. I really relished people seeing me as big.”
Portman added that her recent role was the opposite of what she was asked to do for her role in “Black Swan.”
“On Black Swan, I was asked to get as small as possible,” she reveals. “Here, I was asked to get as big as possible. That’s an amazing challenge – and also a state of mind as a woman.”
The actress also mentioned that her kids “were so enthralled” she was going to be a super hero.
“My 5-year-old and my 10-year-old were so enthralled by this process, getting to visit the set and see me dressed up in a cape. It made it really cool. You know, it’s very rare that my kids are like, “Please go to work!” Usually, it’s quite the opposite,” she said.
